Laboratory Consultant / Technical Supervisor (Part-Time / Contract) Southwest Medical Solutions (SMS Medical) is an independent high‑complexity clinical laboratory located in Oak Lawn, Illinois. We perform general chemistry, hematology, and select point‑of‑care testing, servicing physicians, assisted living facilities, and homebound patients across Illinois. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Consultant / Technical Supervisor to assist in maintaining compliance, overseeing lab operations, and preparing for our upcoming COLA inspection. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the lab meets all CLIA, COLA, and state regulatory standards. Responsibilities Review and update laboratory policies and procedures Ensure compliance with CLIA/COLA regulations Oversee quality control and quality assurance programs Supervise and provide guidance to laboratory staff Review and sign off on proficiency testing and QC logs Assist with inspection readiness and any corrective actions Qualifications Must meet CLIA requirements for Technical Consultant / Laboratory Supervisor (Chemistry and Hematology) Prior experience with COLA or CAP inspections preferred Strong knowledge of CLIA regulations and best practices Excellent attention to detail and communication skills Compensation Competitive hourly or monthly consulting rate – commensurate with experience.
