Overview

Chestnut Family Health Center, a division of Chestnut Health Systems, is seeking a full-time Quality and Infection Control Nurse Coordinator for our Granite City, IL facility.

Responsibilities

Provide input regarding the development of policies and procedures related to nursing, infection control, safety and risk management Review annually, maintain and keep current all nursing, safety/infection control related procedure manuals, policies, documents and posted materials.
Conduct routine audits to verify compliance with quality control testing at ambulatory sites and oversee compliance activities related to behavioral health sites.
Conduct routine audits to verify compliance with medication management and medication storage practices. Report findings to nursing and housing leadership and participate in staff training/retraining as necessary.
Conduct monthly reviews of Medication Administration Record documentation. Report findings to nursing and housing leadership and participate in staff training/retraining as necessary.
Conduct monthly reviews of Controlled Substance log and when necessary complete onsite audit of controlled medication counts. Report findings to nursing and housing leadership and participate in staff training/retraining as necessary.
Provide targeted safety, infection control, and medication safety related education opportunities for staff in collaboration with nursing leadership
Assist with competency review and sign-off in collaboration with nursing leadership.
Act as Chestnut’s southern region CPR instructor.
Serve as a Certified Fit Tester for Chestnut’s southern region staff.
Oversee compliance with and monitoring of all applicable external standards and regulations related to safety, Infection Control, and risk management, including those of applicable regulatory, accrediting, licensing and funding entities, including but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety Administration, relevant State departments and divisions, Health Resources and Services Administration, Federal Tort Claims
Act as internal subject matter expert and consultant regarding foregoing standards and Act as a consultant and advisor to all levels of staff regarding internal processes, procedures and incidents. Provide observation, problem solving, feedback, training and recommendations.
Provide and document on-site review of each facility at least semi-annually and as needed. Prepare for and participate in all accreditation and monitoring site Maintain and obtain behavioral health site licenses, certification and/or waivers for all services and sites.
Act as Safety/Infection Control Coordinator by implementing, monitoring and documenting a comprehensive system of safety (incident reporting, monitoring of environments of care, infection control practices and emergency preparedness/response) for all of
Promote an organizational culture of safety/infection control through relevant processes of assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and Work collaboratively with clinical, administrative and support business unit leadership to establish relevant goals.
Develop and implement a safety work plan and reporting calendar to ensure timely data collection, aggregation, analysis, and reporting of established measures related to key processes and Lead and document all safety related committees and meetings. Determine, produce and disseminate critical reports.
Act as Chestnut's food sanitation manager.
Act as a liaison/participant and foster positive relationships with community partners related to safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness. Coordinate and document Chestnut's participation in relevant community meetings, drills, exercises to meet best practices and requirements of regulatory
Provide regular briefing to immediate supervisor regarding current and anticipated pertinent safety, infection control, and risk management
Promote the recovery values of hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, spirituality/connectedness in performing duties and
Promote Chestnut's culture of customer service excellence through the adherence to Chestnut's behavioral standards for customer
Maintain and protect confidentiality and security of all organizational information gained in the course of performing job responsibilities including, but not limited to financial and client
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience: Position requires bachelor’s degree in nursing or a Registered Nurse license and 5 years post license experience in a critical thinking nursing position (i.e., Mental Health/Substance Use/ER/Acute Care/ICU, etc.). Requires 2 years nursing leadership experience. Must obtain National certification from ServeSafe as a Food Protection Manager within 9 months from date of hire. Must obtain BLS Instructor Certification for CPR within 6 months from date of hire. Must obtain fit testing certification within 6 months from date of hire.

Knowledge of: Safety/Infection Control best practices required. IL regulatory requirements, The Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Federal Emergency Management Agency regulations preferred.

Skills: Excellent computer skills required with experience in database and spreadsheet management. Experience with an electronic medical record (EMR) system preferred. Excellent organizational and presentation/training skills required. Demonstrate professional and effective communication skills with employees at all levels within the organization. Must be a team player and demonstrate a positive collaborative style.

Ability to: Interpret regulations/codes/standards and implement planning/procedures, navigate electronic medical record (EMR) system, problem solving required. Must have a valid driver's license, private automobile insurance and be insurable. Must be able to travel between regions and other agency locations.
