We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Per Diem Grossing Technician at the Digestive Healthcare Associates of Great Neck NY

The Grossing Technician Responsibilities are:
    • The Grosser position is responsible for the gross examination, description and dissection of all surgical pathology specimens received in the laboratory. The Grosser's responsibilities include tissue processing, case set-up, validation of new protocols, maintenance of the grossing department and ensuring the proper workflow of specimens throughout the grossing area.
    • Grosses/Prepares gross description and dissection of simple and complex surgical specimens with minimum supervision of the Medical Director and/or manager.
    • Assures absolute accuracy in the matching of specimen container labels and labels on specimen cassettes in which specimen will be placed for further processing.
    • Loads/unloads Tissue Processor and manages reagent and protocols.
    • Handles and disposes of specimens and chemical waste based on the laboratory's procedural manual.
    • Maintains grossing workflow by creating consistent flow of specimens in and out of the grossing area.
    • Prepares, cleans, sterilizes, and maintains laboratory equipment, glassware, and instruments used in the grossing area.
    • Identify issues with the instruments and demonstrate the ability of troubleshoot all equipment.
    • Monitors inventory levels and assesses reagent needs. Notifies management of the need for additional supplies. Receives, verifies, unpacks, and stores supplies to maintain Grossing area.
    • Performs Quality Control and Quality Assurance tests as required. Maintains all necessary documentation and current logs.


The Grossing Technician must have the following qualifications and experience:
  • NJ State License as Clinical Laboratory Technologist required.

Work Environment
  • This job operates in a professional laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard pathology laboratory equipment.
