Position Overview

The Senior IT Project Lead will drive execution for medium to complex IT initiatives related to South Carolina's Medicaid system. This role involves overseeing the management of Medicaid IT projects in collaboration with Clemson University’s Medicaid IT Services (MITS). Responsibilities include project oversight, artifact collection, release coordination, communication with stakeholders, and supporting infrastructure teams. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to thrive in a high-impact environment.

Scope of Work

This position involves working across multiple projects related to the Medicaid system of South Carolina, including coordination with Clemson’s MITS team. The role includes:

Supporting the oversight project manager in collecting project artifacts and maintaining documentation in MS Teams and SharePoint.
Facilitating communication between infrastructure and security teams to ensure smooth project progression.
Assisting with ticket tracking, SDLC processes, and escalating issues to leadership when necessary.
Ensuring adherence to release processes, policies, and procedures while coordinating with release teams to meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Coordination:

Collaborate with team members to collect and document project artifacts such as estimations, project plans, and communication strategies.
Coordinate weekly meetings, document minutes, and distribute updates to relevant team members.
Maintain organized records of project milestones, obstacles, and progress using tools like SharePoint and MS Teams.
Provide detailed management reports on the status of each project in the pipeline.

Execution and Delivery:

Work closely with the release team to align project timelines with release schedules and ensure compliance with release policies.
Support ticket management and SDLC processes between infrastructure and security teams.
Troubleshoot project obstacles and escalate critical issues as needed.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Build and maintain strong working relationships with Clemson’s Medicaid IT Services team and internal project stakeholders.
Act as a liaison between business units and IT to align on project objectives.

Documentation and Quality Assurance:

Ensure all project artifacts are stored, organized, and accessible to team members.
Validate project deliverables to ensure alignment with business needs and compliance requirements.

Required Skills

Core Competencies:

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to address project challenges effectively.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio, Access, and SharePoint.
Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and ticketing systems.


Technical Tools:

Proficiency with business intelligence tools and SQL is a plus.
Familiarity with healthcare eligibility systems or Medicaid-related projects.


Soft Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication.
Adaptability, self-motivation, and strong time management skills.
Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.



Preferred Skills

Experience with IT project management.
Prior experience in healthcare eligibility and Medicaid systems.
Familiarity with release coordination processes.

Educational Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 1-3 years of systems or business analysis experience.
Preferred: College degree with experience in business intelligence and SQL.
