Overview

OSS is looking to hire qualified personnel to support the fielding of Mortar Fire Control Systems to the US Army; these individuals will provide technical and field service support to ensure the Field Service Team is able to successfully field the MFCS to selected US Army Units. Applicants must have previously held a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of Mortarman. The Field Service Representative will inspect, install, power-up, test, inventory, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and perform software/firmware/hardware updates and retrofits to equipment including mechanical and electronic equipment at the customer's site.

Additionally, these positions assist with New Equipment Fielding, Training, and Logistics accountability.

The FSR will:

  • provide field service; installation, training and inspection activities
  • perform tasks associated with test and repair of equipment including disassembling and reassembling systems/components
  • utilize appropriate tools, technical data and test equipment to perform required work
  • inspect equipment and evaluate performance, making operational or process recommendations to achieve optimal system(s) performance
  • maintain individual proficiency in technical developments, technical training, and the maintenance of systems/components
  • develop, train, and mentor other Team Members as needed to accomplish the Team goals
  • rely on prior experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • work under minimal supervision
  • Accountability of issued items; Management of shortages; and Preparation of and delivery of briefings to articulate the program.
  • Interfaces and coordinates with ASAALT, AMC, Army Commands and receiving Units for logistics and training requirements.
  • Establishes and organizes and directs work and coordinates efforts related to the planning, programming and execution of the fielding operations Equipment Fielding Plans, total package fielding, and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) tracking.
  • Responsible for accurate input of all aspects of property accountability related to Materiel Fielding.
  • Oversees successful fielding accomplishment of issuing equipment in accordance with approved Basis of Issue (BOI).
  • Identifies discrepancies or defects in products, manages fielding stations stock of product, and assists in resolving any issues or problems Soldiers have with equipment.
  • Establishment, vetting, and training of Fielding Teams to conduct on-site activities associated with fielding equipment.
  • Performs plans for set up of fielding site and execution of fielding event, packing of equipment for shipment upon completion of fielding events, New Materiel In Briefs (NMIB) and conduct of New Equipment Training (NET) on assigned products as required, in addition to: Coordinate Display for VIPs; Coordinate firing ranges with associated ammunition to support NET; Instructor Key Personnel Training (IKPT) interface with suppliers for NET Program of Instruction (POI); Provides oversight of execution of recurring training for fielded product training.
  • All Instructors (MNET/ OPNET) will be required to be trained and certified prior to conducting training. Training will be conducted by the USG NET team at Fort Benning, GA.
  • Conduct OPNET and/or MNET for all fielding units by providing certified OPNET/MNET instructors to complete the Program of Instructions (POI). All OPNET/MNET instructors shall be certified by PdM GPM2Ss NET Manager.

REQUIRED (Requirements vary based on position level):
  • HS Diploma
  • 5 years: DoD Mortar Experience and qualified mortar MOS - Level Dependent
  • 1 year:Certified DoD Instructor/Trainer
  • Training and/or experience in the use of hand and special tools for the repair/modification of Military equipment.
  • Valid state Driver’s license
  • Valid US Passport if OCONUS work is required
  • Physically fit, able to lift 50 lbs (minimum)
  • Mechanical technician
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of electronic test equipment
  • Proficient in the use of computers and use of Microsoft office suite of software
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
Preferred (Level III)
  • DAWIA Logistics Certification
  • 10+ years:DoD experience
