Research Technician 3 - to assist and support scientific investigation to study the role of tumor microenvironment in cancer progression and treatment resistance as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
- Independently conducts assigned experiments
- Performs a variety of routine in vivo lab animal experiments including immune cell isolation, cancer cell inoculation, tumor growth measurements and treatment administration
- Maintains a mouse colony
- Independently conducts in vitro experiments under normoxic and hypoxic conditions including molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including immunoblots, ELISA assays, PCR reactions
- Sorts and processes tissue samples
- Tests and evaluates current procedures
- Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
- Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
- Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
- Prepares research progress reports
- Assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts
- Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
- Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
- Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
- Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
- Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
Education/Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in chemistry/biology/health sciences is required.
- Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
- Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
