DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT AN ENGINEER or LACK POST-GRADUATE EXPERIENCE
Since the founding of Walden Environmental Engineering in 1995, we have experienced steady and sustainable growth. Now, we need experienced, driven engineers and engineering project managers to help propel us into the next decade. This individual will work out of our Hudson Valley office in East Fishkill.
Walden’s staff are proud to say that they work on projects that help clients improve air quality, water quality, and energy efficiency in communities where they work, play, and live. We are known for our work on diverse civil and environmental engineering projects for public and private clients throughout Long Island, New York City, and the lower Hudson Valley.
Engineers and Engineering Project Managers at Walden must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an in-depth understanding of consulting in a civil or environmental engineering firm, and demonstrate an impressive ability to manage client relations, perform business development, and mold future engineers by mentoring and managing younger staff.
In turn, Walden offers staff competitive salaries, support for accreditations, continuous learning opportunities, exceptional work/life balance, team building activities, and full benefits that include medical/dental insurance, flex hours, hybrid work arrangements, profit sharing, and a business casual dress environment.
Your exact responsibilities will vary depending on your level of experience, but could include:
- Spearheading site design and overall engineering design.
- Developing design documents and specifications for construction projects and overseeing work.
- Performing site investigations and preparing thorough reports.
- Performing hydrology and hydraulic calculations with an eye on stormwater requirements.
- Performing permit work for clients with a full grasp of relevant regulatory requirements.
- Managing client relationships and participating in business development activities.
- Acting as the liaison between Walden, our clients, and other stakeholders.
- Performing business development work, such as writing proposals, cultivating leads, and pitching Walden services to existing or potential clients.
- Assigning staff work based on their strengths and individual goals.
What skills do I need?
- BS or MS in environmental or civil engineering. Strong candidates with related degrees, such as geology may also be considered.
- Walden requires candidates have the following level of experience:
Experienced engineers must have at least three years of post-bachelor’s experience.
Experienced project managers must have at least eight years of post-bachelor’s experience.
- A licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or in the process of obtaining the same.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office and Google Workspace. Ability to use AutoCAD a plus).
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to produce thorough reports with exceptional attention to detail.
- Understanding of relevant Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Ability to work independently and collectively with other staff.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and 10-hour Construction Safety training.
- Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions when necessary and travel to jobsites.
