RN Graduate, Outpatient-Part 1

Job Summary:

The New RN graduate participates as a member of the health care team in delivering quality health care to patients, which supports Kaiser Permanentes mission, vision and values. The new RN graduate provides a variety of nursing services both in person and by phone utilizing the nursing process and leadership skills to address acute and chronic needs of Health Plan members and other patients of the Kaiser Permanente Health Care Program. He/she will participate in a one year nurse residency program to gain further knowledge, skills and experience in order to function independently to fulfill the major job accountabilities of an experienced registered nurse. The year-long program consists of two parts - part 1 is precepted experience and part 2 is supportive independent practice. The program is intended for new grads who have not been employed as an RN with Kaiser Permanente. When enrolled in the year-long residency program, the new RN graduate works under the direct clinical supervision of faculty, associate nursing instructional personnel and/or direction of a preceptor. Asan employee, the new RN grad works under the general direction of the designated supervisor.

Effectively identifies needs and provides prevention, early intervention and ongoing health education for panel population, individual patient and family. Performs triage and telephone advice independently and within scope of the Oregon and/or Washington Nurse Practice Acts. Education

+ Graduate, within last 2 years, of an Accredited School of Nursing

License, Certification, Registration

+ This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required before hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.

+ Registered Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire OR Compact License: Registered Nurse within 6 months of hire

+ Registered Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire

+ Basic Life Support required at hire

Additional Requirements:

+ Successful completion of the selection process which will include but not limited to a behavioral interview, passing the pre-selection clinical and customer service assessment and at least a successful or higher rating on the most current performance evaluation from a current job position.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Non-RN work history or experience at Kaiser Permanente (program is intended for new grads with no previous KP RN experience).
