Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider, Bone Marrow Transplant (Pediatric Oncology)
This Advanced Practice Provider will join our nationally ranked pediatric program at Primary Childrens Hospital. This APP will have responsibility primarily for Outpatient Bone Marrow Transplant and Immunology patients.
The APP will average 30 hours per week, typically three days per week in our outpatient clinic during regular clinic hours.
The ideal candidate will have APP experience with the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT population, although those with prior APP experience or prior Hematology/Oncology/BMT experience may be considered.
We treat children, adolescents, and young adultsranging in age from newborn through mid-20swith pediatric cancers, non-malignant blood disorders, and immunodeficiencies. Outpatient clinical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: the assessment and evaluation of patients, development of care plans, management of prescriptions, management of infusions, coordination of home care needs, patient and family education, communication with consulting services, coordination of patient follow-up, completion of procedures (to include lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirates and biopsies, skin biopsies, and bone marrow harvests), and integration with the multi-disciplinary team to meet patient care needs as appropriate. Participation in quality improvement initiatives and department research is also strongly encouraged.
Job Essentials
Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are accountable for the provision of patient care at the top of licensure, within their scope of practice. APPs are licensed, credentialed and privileged to perform such duties as:
- Maintenance and promotion of health and prevention of disease;
- Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, correction, and consultation;
- Procedures as outlined by specialty, and referral for health problems;
- Education of the patient, patient's family, clinical staff, and others;
- Prescription or administration of prescription drugs or devices in accordance with a consultation and referral plan;
- Consultation with other healthcare providers;
- Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care;
- Continually learning and developing for optimal patient care and outcomes.
- Advanced Practice Providers may also participate in research, utilize evidence-based practice to improve quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population throughout our organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).

Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V.
- and -
Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
- and -
BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
- and -
Other certification as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP).
