Employees within a 90‑minute radius of our Oak Brook, IL headquarters are required to adhere to the company in‑office work guidelines of 4 days per month minimum from 10 am to 2 pm (1 of the 4 days must be a Monday or Friday). This requirement does not apply to support specialist positions. Infrequent travel (10%) and occasional overtime or after hours may be required. Seniority level: Mid‑Senior level Employment type: Full‑time Job function: Engineering and Information Technology Job Summary & Responsibilities The Senior Platform Mobile Engineer will report to the Director, Software Engineering in First Dollar. This role is responsible for building high‑quality, scalable mobile applications and requires hands‑on expertise in React Native, React, Node.js, and TypeScript, with a focus on delivering exceptional mobile experiences. Technical Development Develop and maintain high‑quality mobile applications using React Native Build and deploy applications on both iOS and Android platforms Implement scalable mobile solutions that integrate seamlessly with backend services Contribute to technical decisions regarding mobile platform strategies, frameworks, and tools Follow established coding standards, best practices, and development workflows Participate in code reviews and maintain quality standards across mobile development Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including product managers, designers, and backend engineers Active participation in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives Continuously learn and adopt new mobile development practices and technologies Demonstrated experience using AI responsibly to accelerate development workflow, improve code quality, and solve complex problems more efficiently Project Implementation Contribute to end‑to‑end mobile application development lifecycle from conception to deployment Deliver mobile features and applications that meet business requirements on schedule Work with QA engineers to implement comprehensive testing strategies Support app store submissions and releases for both iOS and Android platforms Monitor application performance and implement optimization strategies Technical Execution Develop React Native applications with smooth user experiences Integrate mobile applications with Node.js/TypeScript backend services and APIs Implement cloud‑based solutions using Google Cloud Platform services Ensure proper state management using Redux, Context API, or similar solutions Optimize mobile applications for performance, security, and scalability Diagnose and resolve mobile‑specific issues, such as crashes and performance bottlenecks Preferred Qualifications Education & Experience 4–7 years of experience in mobile app development roles Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience Technical Skills Strong proficiency in React Native for building cross‑platform mobile applications Solid experience with React.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development practices Experience with Node.js, including API development and integration using REST and GraphQL Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Firebase, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Storage Proficient with mobile development tools and workflows, including Xcode, Android Studio, and Expo Skilled in diagnosing and resolving mobile‑specific issues Knowledge of mobile app deployment processes for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store Practical AI experience – comfortable using tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude for prototyping, debugging, and problem‑solving Ability to evaluate AI‑generated suggestions, ensure code meets our quality standards, and be able to explain, modify, and support any AI‑assisted work as if you wrote it from scratch Preferred Experience Experience with native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin/Java) development Knowledge of additional GCP services (Cloud Run, App Engine, BigQuery) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Experience with mobile app analytics and performance monitoring tools Background in mobile security best practices and implementation Other Requirements Infrequent travel (10%) Ability to occasionally work overtime or after hours Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Pay Range $120,000 – $145,000 per year Compensation & Benefits The compensation for this position will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive and bonus opportunities.
