Summary

The SAP Production Planning Business Process Owner is a key role in the SAP Sustainability organization. The SAP PP BPO is the primary liaison between the integrated business planning function, including production planning & scheduling and the SAP sustainability organization. Working as a partner to the business, the SAP PP BPO is a critical success factor to current and future SAP related initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze business processes in manufacturing and production environments to identify areas for improvement (Identify gaps, issues and work around solutions)
  • Design and implement SAP PP (Production Planning) module to optimize production planning and control
  • Configure SAP system according to business requirements and ensure that all modules are working together correctly
  • Provide training to end-users on how to use SAP PP module effectively
  • Collaborate with other SAP modules like MM (Material Management), SD (Sales and Distribution), and FICO (Finance and Controlling) to address process interdependence
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to production and demand planning, capacity planning, and shop floor control
  • Participate in SAP projects and offer expertise on SAP PP module implementation
  • Develop reports and dashboards to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing and production operations
  • Keep up to date with the latest SAP PP features and functionality and recommend improvements to business processes.
  • Perform detailed analysis of complex business process requirements and provide appropriate system solutions; identify, interpret, validate and document customer requirements
  • Facilitate workshops to collect business requirements
  • Map client business requirements, processes and objectives; develop necessary product modifications to satisfy clients' needs.
  • Act as liaison with client for troubleshooting: investigate, analyze, and solve software problems.
  • Document functional designs, test cases and results.
  • Act as a liaison between the business functions and the technical team.
  • Provide ad-hoc training and user support as required
  • Work self-directed and independently; may act as subject matter mentor to more junior members


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional work experience, with at least five years as a production planning & scheduling professional
  • APICS certification is a plus
  • Experience in the food manufacturing industry and/or in a continuous manufacturing environment is desired
  • 5 years’ ERP Experience (in planning & scheduling) preferably as a BPO, functional consultant or power user
  • SAP Experience (in planning & scheduling) as BPO, functional consultant or power user is desired
  • Experience serving as a Business Process Owner in the manufacturing industry
  • Skilled in business process mapping using BPMN 2.0 or similar business process notation, swim lane chart creation, etc
  • Skilled in functional specification writing associated with the implementation of ERP solutions
  • ERP configuration experience in production planning & scheduling
  • SAP S/4 HANA production planning & scheduling configuration experience is desired
  • Skilled in defining and implementing business process measurement systems and controlling business process execution & adherence
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is desired
  • Skilled at writing and implementing standard operating procedures and work instructions
