Product Engineer I

JOB SUMMARY
The role of Product Engineer I will carry out and lead design, development, and product optimization of Getman products throughout their entire life cycle. The position involves working in a dynamic design environment, requiring the ability to integrate both theoretical knowledge and practical experience to produce high quality products. The position is also expected to mentor and transfer knowledge to others within the organization to help expand internal capabilities and lead innovation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out design and development activities for Getman products throughout their entire life cycle.
- Utilize strong engineering fundamentals to apply knowledge of customer applications and modularization strategies, competitive products, design for manufacturing and assembly, and service needs to differentiate and add value to Getman products while maintaining cost competitiveness.
- Lead, train, and mentor other engineers and technical staff to complete specifications, calculations, analysis and material/component selection related to assigned project.
- Develop expertise about various applications, how to support products, and provide recommendations to encourage sales growth.
- Prepare detailed designs, schematics, computer aided 3D models, and assembly drawings in SolidWorks from concept discussions and mark up drawings for other engineering team members to follow.
- Ability to perform FEA on complex parts and assemblies and interpret results, then recommend and/or apply corrective measures to achieve appropriate strength and durability.
- Utilize ERP software (Epicor) to create or modify Bills of Material (parts, assemblies, modules, or full trucks) as required for designs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues and make other improvements on Getman products.
- Work cross-functionally within Getman for the development, integration and support of new products and features as well as existing products within the assigned product line.
- Plan, develop and execute schedules for projects and production requirements as required, taking actions necessary to expedite the successful accomplishment of assigned projects.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Minimum BSME or other related degree from an accredited engineering college.
- 7+ years engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in technical lead role.
- Strong experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
- Demonstrated experience to understand the operating environment and customer expectations to help guide the direction of the assigned product offerings.
- Proven experience taking customer level requirements and developing system and component level requirements and specifications leading to technical solutions.
SKILLS, TALENTS AND/OR CHARACTERISTICS
- Technical and application knowledge in heavy equipment and/or underground mining.
- Ability to select, apply and develop technical solutions for product subsystems and full vehicle systems, including hydraulics, electrical/instrumentation.
- Willingness to work in factory environment and develop accurate fabrication and assembly drawings and BOMs. Lead or contributor role in ECN processes.
- Strong working knowledge of CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
- Development of equipment Operations and Maintenance manuals and Spare Parts manuals together with technical documentation professionals.
- Apply advanced mathematical and engineering concepts for structural and vehicle system analysis.
- Read, interpret, and apply documents such as industry standards, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and how to apply and interpret.
- Strong written and verbal communications.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally.
