Job Title: Tooling Engineer
Job Description
Our Client is a niche business specializing in designing and building tools for the beaded molded foam (BMF) industry. We also outsource work for CNC machined cavities from aluminum billets/bars. We are seeking a skilled Tooling Engineer to join our team and contribute to our innovative projects.
Responsibilities
* Design and build tools for the beaded molded foam (BMF) industry, including creating 3D designs of all components and building tools for expanded polystyrene (EPS), expanded polypropylene (EPP), expanded polyethylene (EPE), and specialty co-polymers.
* Utilize SolidWorks to design tooling and engineer changes to the mold.
* Review molds with customers and assist with change requests, ensuring a deep understanding of how and why these changes should be made. Communicate changes with the Design Engineers.
* Lead a small team of engineers, managing a total of 16 people, including 3 engineers.
Essential Skills
* Tooling design experience, ideally within plastics or aluminum.
* CAD experience.
* Understanding engineering changes and their impact on the function of the tooling.
* Knowledge of steam check mold.
* Willingness to travel to customer locations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Aluminum experience.
* Experience with Mastercam.
* Leadership/Management experience.
* Proficiency in SolidWorks.
Work Environment
This position requires a hybrid work schedule, with on-site presence at our Howell location at least once per week, ideally 2-3 times per week, and remote work on the additional days. During the first 60-90 days, there will be an expectation to visit local customer sites to learn the industry and the product. Post-training, travel will be minimal, with occasional visits to customer sites (approximately once per month). The work environment involves utilizing advanced design software and collaborating closely with a dedicated team of engineers.
