Job Description

The starting pay range for this position begins at $17/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

The Cafeteria Attendant is responsible for serving/stocking ready to eat food items and beverages, completing daily inventory of items needed, emptying trash, unboxing items and the overall cleanliness of the Inn on Biltmore Estate employee cafeteria. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to sweeping, mopping, stocking, serving, and prepping food items. The success of this position will be measured by cleanliness and organization of designated work area, professional attitude, and a well maintained and stocked area. The position will also provide general assistance and support for the department, the leadership, and the company as required.

Schedule can vary, but usually 7:00AM-3:00PM, or 12:00PM-8:00PM

Flex: is a position working 20-29 hours.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

1. Maintain a clean and well-organized work area in the staff cafeteria and storage room.
2. Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, safe, and in good working order.
3. Check to ensure daily product is inventoried and well stocked for use.
4. Ensure for proper rotation, storage, and dating of ready to eat items is within freshness dates. Check all items for quality and freshness as needed. Check products for proper temperature regularly if needed.
5. Ensure all items are organized and presented to standard for efficiency and ease of use.
6. Communicate effectively with fellow co-workers and supervisors within area of responsibility.
7. Be the face of the cafeteria when greeting fellow employees and maintain a professional and warm attitude.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Cafeteria Attendant follows "Opening/Closing Café Checklist"
2. Provide general assistance and support for the department, the leadership, and the company as required.
3. Work closely with kitchen staff and Purchasing Department for ordering items to be stocked.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Previous experience with a cafeteria setting and kitchen helpful. The ideal candidate will have had at least six (6) months of prior experience with food handling and stocking procedures in cafeteria setting with exposure to a kitchen environment.
2. Basic math, knife handling, and skills.
3. Knowledge of food sanitation procedures and ServSafe certification helpful.
4. Able to work effectively with or without direct supervision.
5. Strong time management and organizational skills.
6. Ability to be proactive, exercise good judgment, and take initiative where needed.
7. Commitment to delivering world class guest service and dining experiences.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Able to sit, stand, twist, bend, push, pull, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis for periods of up to 8 hours a day.
2. Able to work effectively in a cafeteria/kitchen environment with fluctuations in temperature and conditions (heat, cold, humidity) for an extended period of time.
