Certifications:
- BLS upon hire and ongoing
- NRP within 6 months of hire and ongoing
- STABLE preferred
- Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification within 6 months of hire and ongoing
- Gnosis annual assessment of EFM principles within 3 months of hire and ongoing
- BFHI (Baby-Friendly) Lactation Education required or within 6 months of hire
Must-Have:
- RN who can manage all phases of care from triage, antepartum, labor, postpartum, to neonatal care
- Comfort in stabilizing babies
Job Description:
- The RN provides collaborative nursing care for a caseload of patients during an assigned shift in accordance with medical staff treatment plans, nursing standards of care, and professional code of ethics.
- Demonstrates the ability to delegate appropriately and direct staff in coordinating and delivering care.
- Takes responsibility for efficient utilization of care resources.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships for problem resolution, and is sensitive to the needs of patients, families, and staff.
- Must possess analytical skills to prioritize workload, develop nursing care plans, and implement nursing solutions addressing the patient's body, mind, and spirit.
- Basic computer knowledge is required, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and relevant intranet use.
- Ability to learn and utilize software programs relevant to patient care and operation processes.
- Interpersonal skills are necessary to instruct and comfort patients and families, as well as to maintain effective communication with healthcare team members.
- Reports directly to the Perinatal Nurse Manager and indirectly to house supervisors as appropriate.
- Will collaborate with all members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and lead LVN/Department Clerk teams in managing assigned caseloads.
- Exposure includes tasks involving contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
- Provides population-based care according to department skills checklist for neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics, reflecting knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
