We are proud to be an integral part of a system that provides housing and mental health services for over 300 consumers. This position will be located Monterey County. Our facilities specialize in providing services to adults with mental health disabilities while promoting healthy living and wellness in a spectacular setting. This is a full-time position with medical, dental, vision and 401k benefits offerings.
SUMMARY: Assist the Residential Services Manager as needed in performing administrative functions at the facility. Provide care and supervision to residents as required by Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, and Title 22. Perform overall management of medications, and enforce compliance with regulations and Company's medication policies and procedures. Assist with initial and on-going medication training. Assist residents with activities of daily living. May prepare meals and provide housekeeping for residents as needed. Implement and assist residents to comply with their individual Appraisal/Needs and Services Plans. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Residential Care
- In a culturally competent manner will provide services to all residents without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, age, sex, religion, and handicap or payment status.
- Provide necessary resident care and supervision as prescribed by doctors, other health care providers, and as developed by the resident's treatment team.
- Assist residents with daily living activities including cooking, cleaning, showering, hygiene and grooming, and other personal care assistance.
- Safely assist residents with self-administration of prescription and non-prescription medications in accordance with physicians' orders and Title 22.
- Assist with planning and implementing individuals' treatment plans in conjunction with other staff, family and providers.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical and mental health status to the resident's primary care providers and facility staff.
- Monitor and report residents' progress and outcome data.
- Transport residents to appointments, outings, etc.
- Assist in identifying and accessing medical, educational, social, prevocational, rehabilitative or other community services for residents.
- Track and schedule residents' annual dental and physician's exams including TB tests.
- Assist in the initial and on-going staff training on medication policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular medication audits to ensure accuracy in facility medication management.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Abides by the principles of good nutrition, food preparation, storage, menu planning, cooking, clean-up, food safety and following Title 22 and food service principles.
- Conducts menu planning with residents and adheres to Physician prescribed special diets.
- Be knowledgeable on housekeeping and sanitation principles. Perform housekeeping duties. Maintain living areas, including resident rooms and community areas.
- Organizes, conducts and evaluates planned activities.
- Gives capable residents the opportunity to participate in the planning, preparation,
- conduct, clean-up and critique of the activities.
- Encourages, directs and supervises the participation of volunteers in planned activities.
- Posts schedule of planned activities in a central facility location readily accessible to clients, relatives, and representatives of placement and referral agencies. Maintains copies of these schedules for at least six months.
- Mandated to report any suspected abuse of dependent adults and elders directly to Law Enforcement, Adult Protective Services, Ombudsman or Community Care Licensing.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or GED; a minimum of one year mental health experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Requirements for providing care and supervision of residents.
- Knowledge and conformity to all applicable HIPAA, OSHA, state and local laws, rules and regulations including Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing, Title 22.
- Knowledge of community services and resources and how to access them.
- Read, speak, write and understand English well enough to follow and share the regulations, requirements and communications for providing care to residents.
- Able to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages associated with completing the requirements of the position.
- Ability to carry out written, oral, or diagramed instructions.
- Competent in dealing with problems involving several variables in different situations.
- Adjust tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
- Maintain cooperative and professional working relationships.
- Prefer adequate computer skills to utilize e-mail and word processing programs.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- If required to drive, must be 21 and accepted by the Company's vehicle insurance.
- Cleared by the Department of Justice and FBI prior to commencing work at the facility.
- TB clearance within the last 6 months and yearly thereafter. Pass a health screening.
- Maintain a valid First-Aid certification.
- May be required to serve on company committees.
- Able to answer telephone professionally, understandably, and with proper etiquette.
- Complete all annual training requirements as mandated by Community Care Licensing Division, Title 22, and Front St. policies.
- Attend mandated meetings and trainings; fulfill all coursework and training hours required.
