Resident Care Director Job Responsibilities
  • Leads and supervises the training and performance of licensed and non-licensed nursing staff, while overseeing resident care and wellness programs
  • Educates and assists potential residents and their families with the admissions process, ensuring all necessary admission paperwork is completed and serving as the primary contact for new admission inquiries
  • Provides tours of the facility, answers all admission calls, and verifies all insurance and financial information
  • Serves as a member of the direct care team, participating in on call rotations, daily rounds and medication passes
  • Coordinates with physicians, pharmacies, certified agencies, and other health care vendors
  • Participates in multidisciplinary care plan meetings as needed and ensures effective case management and follow-up practices
  • Ensures resident needs are met by coordinating and monitoring restorative services, activities, and related support services to promote respect for the dignity of each resident
  • Attends conferences with other professionals and paraprofessionals to assure current standards of practice are maintained within the facility
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with staff, residents, and their families, and serves as the first line for mitigating their concerns
  • Assists the executive director in developing and implementing policies and procedures, promoting resident safety and the ability to age in place, and managing discharge planning as needed
  • Participates in new employee selection and orientation, evaluating the skills of employees and making recommendations to the executive director regarding employee performance
  • Supports the implementation of marketing plans including networking with potential referral sources such as physicians, hospitals, case managers, and other community representatives
  • Represents the facility when working with agencies, departments, and other organizations, providing outreach and keeping updated on community resources
  • Ensures that all areas of documentation and assessment are compliant by conducting and reviewing regular audits
  • Assists staff and residents
Resident Care Director Qualifications and Skills
  • Associates degree or higher in human service management, housing management, social work or nursing, or related fields
  • Experience in community health, human services or assisted living preferred, but motivated new graduates are encouraged to apply – we’re happy to train the right candidate
  • RN or LPN nursing practice background
  • Strong understanding of assisted living, Medicaid, Medicare, and SWH programs, or a willingness to learn on the job
  • Completion of a 3-day orientation on assisted living and other required topics according to the EOEA’s assisted living regulations plus a minimum of 15 hours of ongoing education and training each year
  • Annual physical exam and negative Mantoux test (or chest X-ray)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and social skills, with demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Massachusetts driver’s license with a safe driving history
