Receives all cross-cover calls from the care team from both campuses. Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a Physician team. Works both independently and as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.Key Position Details:
Job Description:
- Provides cross cover for admitted patients including fielding nurse calls and performing bedside evaluation as needed
- Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
- Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
- Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
- Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
- Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
- Refers for specialty care when determined.
- Consults with physician when patient needs outside of scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
- Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
- Works with primary care team for program development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Practice details:
Mercy has 68 Hospitalists plus 6 APPs and there are 250+ hospitalists in the system
Full time evenings, 2pm - 12am, at Mercy Hospital including Unity campus
Job Requirements
- Master's degree completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program and certification through ANCC
- Active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for credentialing and hospital privileges
- ACLS/BLS Tier 3 - required within 180 Days
