Field Project Planner / Scheduler

Position Summary
The Field Project Quantity Surveyor (Electrical and Instrumentation) is responsible for:
* Gathering, validating, analyzing, and reporting on construction physical progress.
* Preparing quantity takeoffs for Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) commodities using issued-for-construction (IFC) engineered drawings to support project breakdown structures.
* Conducting routine field walk-throughs to quantify physically installed quantities.
* Supporting project controls and construction management efforts with accurate and timely earned value management (EVM) tasks.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
* Quantity Analysis & Reporting:
o Prepare quantity takeoffs and develop tabular and graphic progress reports.
o Follow established processes, procedures, and corporate reporting formats.
* Field Monitoring & Validation:
o Validate reported installed quantities from construction contractors.
o Reconcile discrepancies between engineering drawings and as-built quantities.
o Validate field change orders.
* Support for EVM & Reporting:
o Provide installed quantity data for EVM reporting.
o Assist in the preparation and updating of standard corporate construction progress and earned value reports.
o Develop alternatives to accommodate project changes and priorities.
* Team Collaboration & Meetings:
o Collaborate with the Lead Planner and Lead Cost Engineer on systems, tools, and routine reports.
o Participate in construction and project meetings, providing relevant updates and recommendations.
o Support home office staff with coordination and reporting of construction progress and earned value activities.

Qualifications
* Education:
o Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
* Experience:
o Proven experience as a project quantity surveyor in construction projects, particularly in industrial gases, oil & gas, or petrochemical industries.
* Skills:
o Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and using MS Excel.
o Experienced in scheduling software (Primavera P or Microsoft Project preferred).
o Knowledgeable in project management principles, including:
Schedule development
Resource management
Risk analysis
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on teamwork.
* Other Details:
o Must be local (per diem ineligible).
o Based at an industrial construction job site.
