Position Overview:

The Engineering Technician position is to focus on high complexity products that require a keen focus to develop and optimize the assembly process and associated work instructions. This role is responsible for solving customer / assembly specific problems in the manufacturing process and ensuring process designs are achieving the highest efficiency. Responsible for the support of product engineering.

Responsibilities: Provide shop floor support in a complex manufacturing environment. Provide required surface mount technical support for the process and equipment. Create and maintain machine programs under the guidance of the engineering department. Solder paste screen printer & inspection, reflow profiles, AOI & AXI programs Assist in evaluating or creating new stencil designs and/or placement programs for surface mount using Gerber or CAD data supplied by customer. Support manufacturing in initial product build and debugging of machine programs. Evaluate break/fix requirements on machines to alert and involve maintenance team members. Provide guidance to SMT/Product Engineering of process related issues. Assist in training operators on specific customer requirements/known assembly issues. Assist Product Engineer with adding notes and attachments to build instructions. Update existing surface mount programs as required due to Engineering Change Notices or equipment changes. Routinely analyzes performance data and leads improvement initiatives to improve quality, cost, and delivery. Supports and adheres to the Quality Management System Supports the development of a safe, ergonomic, and environmentally sound workplace. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be an ITAR Compliant US Person. Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience for the Engineering Technician: High School diploma/G.E.D. required Associate’s preferred in a technical field Minimum of eight (8) years in the electronics industries involving performance of machine and process development. Must have strong communication and organization skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize; attention to detail is a must. Must have excellent problem solving skills and possess good analytical, verbal and written communication skills Experience with identifying and suggesting improvement opportunities. Prefer solid technical experience in the printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) industry in a high-reliability environment; contract manufacturing experience a plus. Experience should include working with all component types in SMT and Processes such as SMT Pick and Place, Solder rework, Thermal profiling, Automatic Optical Inspection, and X-Ray. Experience with RoHS and familiar with IPC-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship standards. Must demonstrate flexibility, self-direction, and self-discipline to plan and accomplish objectives and meet deadlines with limited supervision. Exhibits a “Can-Do” attitude and actively seeks for solutions to problems; good team player with pleasant personality.
