About the School of Professional Studies The Wake Forest University School of Professional Studies (SPS) is dedicated to accelerating professional growth and supporting talent development across careers. The Academic Director's Role The Academic Director will lead and oversee graduate Project Management and IT Management degree programs, starting July 1, 2026. The position is full‑time and based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The director will provide academic oversight, strategic direction, and market leadership for the programs, ensuring curriculum quality, relevance, and continuous enhancement. Responsibilities include guiding the programs’ strategic positioning, nurturing industry partnerships, leading Program Advisory Boards, engaging professional communities, and teaching at least one program course. The director will serve as a professor of the practice (non‑tenure track) and collaborate with faculty and staff to support students and community partners. Qualifications Earned master’s degree in a related field such as technology, computer science, business, management, or IT management, with relevant professional certifications. Significant experience leading and managing IT and high‑level projects in a professional setting. Prior experience teaching online at the graduate level, with evidence of teaching effectiveness. Prior academic leadership or business managerial experience is preferred. About the Programs The Project Management program delivers a balance of the discipline’s art and science, preparing students for industry certifications such as PMP and Scrum Master. The IT Management program equips professionals to align IT strategies with business objectives, support digital transformation, and drive innovation. This joint leadership role guides a curriculum that prepares professionals to manage complex projects and align IT strategies with business objectives in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
