JOB DUTIES:

Hire, coach, train, and manage the performance of team members in Wholesale Market Operation. Review and approve staff timesheets and leave requests. Interact with reporting supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers involving matters between functional areas or customers. Recommend modifications to existing rules or propose/evaluate new market rules to address observed or expected performance issues. Run periodic market stress tests and analyze the results. Assess the effects that modeling decisions, market algorithms, and software implementation have on market outcomes. Develop methods and systems for evaluating effects that existing and proposed processes have on market efficiency and prices. Propose, develop, and evaluate new wholesale electricity market design initiatives that foster economic and reliable system and market operations. Investigate potential changes to market models and algorithms to improve performance. Engage directly with Market Participants, including presentations and general representation of ERCOT staff at stakeholder meetings. Evaluate likely impacts of proposed changes on market outcomes. Manage statistical and economic studies of the models and algorithms used to clear and price electricity markets. Develop measures of market performance. Work with various internal groups in designing and maintaining tools, models, and databases useful in performing the functions of market design, market process improvement, market analysis, market monitoring and market reporting. Work with other departments and project teams to design and implement changes to the market system and related system functionality. Support analysts in researching Market Participants' questions and disputes with the ERCOT market and address Market Participant needs on support operations. Identify issues and escalate as appropriate to Director, Wholesale Markets. Provide input into budgeting and financial decisions that impact the department. May telecommute up to 2 to 3 days per week from within the State of Texas.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Management, Business Administration, or Public Administration.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Eight (8) years of experience as an Advisor, Supervisor, or Manager for Electricity Market Development, Electricity Capacity Development, Stakeholder Engagement, or similar position.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The eight (8) years of experience as an Advisor, Supervisor, or Manager for Electricity Market Development, Electricity Capacity Development, Stakeholder Engagement, or similar position must have been in electric utility operations and market deregulation or market restructuring in the electric utility industry.

OTHER:

May telecommute up to 2 to 3 days per week from within the State of Texas.
