Polysonics is a Warrenton, VA based leader in the acoustics, audio-visual and technology design industry. We work with over 100 of the largest architects (6 of the top 6) and developers across most commercial end markets (Education, Government, Hospitality, Healthcare, Courthouses, Performing Arts).
Polysonics is looking for a Director of Business Development to support our growing team and help drive our business development efforts. Candidates for this role can be based in Charlotte, NC or Washington, DC.
Position Overview
The Director of Business Development will play a pivotal role in driving growth in the Southeast as well as expanding the firm’s presence in new regions. This role requires a proven track record in generating business within architecture, engineering, acoustics, or AV, along with the ability to build and strengthen relationships within the architecture and commercial development communities.
Key responsibilities include identifying strategic growth opportunities, independently managing new and existing client relationships, and developing customized growth plans tailored to market needs and firm goals.
The Director of Business Development will lead efforts to build and execute growth plans, reporting directly to the President, to ensure alignment with design and marketing strategies. This role demands strong problem-solving skills, market expertise, and the ability to manage diverse initiatives with precision and professionalism.
As a critical member of our leadership team, the Director of Business Development will drive the firm’s expansion goals by delivering solutions with efficiency, accuracy, flexibility, and creativity. Key Responsibilities
The Director of Business Development will have the following primary responsibilities:
· Develop and implement comprehensive growth strategies and roadmaps for customer acquisition, activation, retention, and revenue growth.
· Build and oversee the implementation of short and long-term growth plans, targeting specific markets or customer segments.
· Analyze and expand into new markets and regions, including competitive analysis and market research.
· Establish and track metrics related to growth initiatives, ensuring accountability and transparency.
· Collaborate with marketing, design, and customer success teams to align efforts and maximize growth impact.
· Lead initiatives that increase brand trust and credibility to foster stronger customer loyalty.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Architecture, Engineering or a related field preferred.
· 8-10+ Years of experience in sales, business development, or project management with a proven track record of driving growth in revenue and customer acquisition.
· Track record of building and driving growth in Architecture, Engineering, Acoustics, or AV.
· Experience building relationships in architecture and commercial development.
· Familiarity with growth tools and platforms (e.g., CRM systems, marketing automation and project management software).
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to travel as needed.
· Currently living in Charlotte, NC or Washington, DC metro areas.
