July 16, 2024 -- The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) continues to be a leader in providing the highest level of quality and compassionate healthcare for the D.News & World Report has just released the 2024-2025 ratings and rankings, in which GW Hospital is recognized as a Best Regional Hospital. GW Hospital ranks 4th in the region, which includes hospitals in D.C. and parts of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
GW Hospital achieved "high performing" status in six specialty areas: Neurology and Neurosurgery; Orthopedics; Pulmonology and Lung Surgery; Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Surgery; Urology; Prostate Cancer Surgery; and Diabetes. As a Trauma Nurse Specialist in our Level I Trauma Center - Emergency Department, you will play a critical role in delivering specialized care to trauma patients. You will work in a Level I trauma center, providing expert clinical care, education, and leadership within our dynamic trauma care team.
Assess, triage, and provide advanced nursing care to trauma patients in the Emergency Department.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary trauma team, including physicians, surgeons, and respiratory therapists, to ensure seamless patient care.
* Develop and deliver trauma education programs for ED staff, including trauma simulations and drills.
* Participate in trauma research initiatives and quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes.
* Advocate for the needs of trauma patients and their families, providing emotional support and guidance.
Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department nursing experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center.
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
* Commitment to ethical and legal standards in trauma care.
