Our client is searching for an IT Infrastructure Manager to join their IT Department based onsite from their Atlanta Office.
The Infrastructure Manager is responsible for overseeing the safety, security, availability, backup, and performance of the company's computer hardware, networks, communication circuits, and operating systems, while ensuring a positive customer experience. The position implements procedures and policies for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, networks, and storage systems to maximize operational efficiency and business continuity. This role also includes leading the migration of the company's data center infrastructure to the cloud (specifically AWS).
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, installation, configuration, maintenance, and de-commissioning of network and server equipment in a secure, cost-effective manner across all company locations, both on-premises and in the cloud (AWS).
- Develop, implement, and share operational best practices for IT infrastructure security across all locations to reduce risk and protect company assets, data, and employees, particularly in cloud environments.
- Manage hardware and communications supplier relationships, ensuring performance, quality, cost, and contractual commitments are met.
- Lead and manage the migration of on-premise infrastructure to AWS (or other cloud platforms), including network, server, and storage solutions, to ensure smooth transition and minimal business disruption.
- Design, implement, and integrate hardware and cloud solutions in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment, ensuring that AWS solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure.
- Ensure all servers, routers, switches, and cloud-based resources have documented and working backup and recovery processes in place, specifically for cloud-based workloads.
- Assist in developing disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring that cloud infrastructure aligns with the overall corporate business continuity objectives.
- Manage and monitor cloud-based performance and costs, optimizing usage and ensuring the infrastructure is scalable, secure, and cost-efficient in the cloud environment.
- Collect and report on key performance metrics for both on-premise and cloud infrastructure to continuously measure and improve operational performance.
- Create business cases for recommended infrastructure changes, including cloud migration, identifying potential business benefits, risks, and consequences.
- Provide technical management of the Data Center, ensuring service levels are met, all relevant policies are adhered to, and that cloud infrastructure meets operational standards.
- Ensure operational procedures are current, in compliance with regulations and laws, and fit for purpose, particularly in the cloud environment.
- Maintain the configuration management system, ensuring all hardware/software installations, removals, and changes are accurately documented, including cloud infrastructure components.
- Lead and supervise the infrastructure team, providing direction, conducting performance appraisals, and ensuring appropriate training and development, particularly in cloud technologies.
- Provide guidance to Divisional and Site IT personnel, especially in cloud solution management and cloud migration processes.
- Participate in hiring and termination decisions, as well as compensation and performance management processes.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships between IT and other functional areas within the organization to identify, recommend, and implement technology solutions, with a focus on cloud-based solutions.
- Collaborate with Senior Executives and Site Management to develop new solutions and provide reporting on infrastructure and cloud performance.
- Work closely with finance and accounting associates to manage cloud costs, train on systems, procedures, and problem resolution, and optimize cloud infrastructure for cost savings.
- Negotiate with external suppliers for cost-effective and best value technology solutions, including cloud providers like AWS.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
- University degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, with 7-10 years of relevant experience, including 3-5 years in a manufacturing or multi-site environment.
- Experience in Microsoft-heavy and cloud technology environments, particularly AWS.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, CCNA, CompTIA Network+, MSCE or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Experience with cloud migration projects, including the planning, design, and implementation of cloud infrastructure solutions.
Functional Requirements
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Proven experience in planning, designing, and managing cloud solutions, particularly within AWS.
- Project Management: Ability to oversee and manage complex infrastructure projects, particularly cloud migrations, ensuring delivery within tight timelines.
- Organizational Skills: Must be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects, including the transition from on-premise data centers to the cloud.
- Strategic Focus: Manage projects that impact long-term organizational strategies, especially cloud adoption and infrastructure modernization.
- Problem Solving: Able to exercise independent judgment and take action, especially in cloud-related issues.
- Travel: Some travel is required, and a valid driver's license is required.
Skills / Competencies
- Expert knowledge of IT infrastructure, including operating systems, network configurations, and hardware, as well as cloud platforms like AWS.
- Cloud Infrastructure Expertise: Experience designing and managing cloud-based solutions, especially in AWS, including compute, storage, networking, and security components.
- Proficiency in Configuration Management for physical, virtual, and cloud technologies.
- Risk Management: Familiarity with methods and techniques for managing IT risks, business impact analysis, and contingency planning for cloud-based services.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of corporate, industry, and professional standards, policies, regulations, and compliance codes, particularly in cloud environments.
- Self-motivated: Highly driven individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks problem resolution.
- Experience managing high-severity events: Ability to respond and manage critical cloud infrastructure situations effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and guide team members.
- Excellent communication skills: Both written and verbal, with strong presentation capabilities.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively and lead cross-functional teams.
