Audiologist / Senior Audiologist – Band 5/6 | Freeman Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne Job Overview We are seeking outstanding Band 5 or Band 6 Audiologists to join our Audiology service where you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our adult service. This is an opportunity to be part of a forward‑thinking service that invests in its people as much as its patients. NO AGENCIES PLEASE Interview Date: Thursday 18 December 2025 | 37 Hours 30 Minutes/Week Responsibilities Provide routine and specialist audiological assessment and rehabilitation of patients of all ages, including paediatrics and adults. Analyse test results to determine diagnosis, medical opinion needs and treatment options. Develop, arrange and implement individual treatment plans in a person‑centred manner. Select, programme and evaluate hearing aids and provide specialised audiological services. Administer and interpret a wide range of diagnostic tests and structured assessments. Maintain accurate clinical observations and test results in the database. Deliver complex and sensitive information and advice to patients and carers. Prepare audiological reports with recommendations and advice for colleagues and patients. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality, well‑coordinated service delivery. Support training of other staff, including those on work placement and less experienced colleagues. Participate in service improvement and maintain CPD to preserve registration. Cover outreach clinics (Berwick, Morpeth, Cramlington, Corbridge, North Tyneside, Battle Hill, Benfield). Person Specification – Band 5 Essential Criteria BSc in audiology or equivalent level qualification. Registered Audiologist with HCPC or AHCS or in the process of registering. BAA accredited Certificate to Practice. Completed audiology Practitioner Training Programme or equivalent. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Excellent organisational and time‑management skills. Good written communication skills. Good level of IT skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases). Evidence of continuing professional development. Ability to work at outreach clinics as required. Desirable Criteria British Sign Language qualification. Person Specification – Band 6 Essential Criteria BSc in audiology or equivalent level, relevant qualification. Registered Audiologist with HCPC or AHCS or state‑registered clinical scientist. BAA accredited Certificate to Practice. Completed audiology Practitioner Training Programme or equivalent with a track record of post‑programme experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent organisational and time‑management skills. Excellent written communication skills. Good level of IT skills. Evidence of continuing professional development. Ability to work at outreach clinics as required. Desirable Criteria Mentorship certificate. MSc in Audiology or equivalent. STP in Audiology completed or HTS module in appropriate area. British Sign Language qualification. Membership of BSA/BAA. Experience of training others.
