ESC has an exciting opportunity for a talented and detail-oriented Merchandise Writer to join our client’s ecommerce team. As the Merchandise Writer, you will be responsible for managing all copy content related to merchandise on our e-commerce website. This includes creating engaging and persuasive product descriptions, shopping guides, size charts, brand descriptions, trend descriptions, and promotional copy. Your exceptional writing skills and attention to detail will play a crucial role in enhancing our customers' shopping experience and driving sales.


Responsibilities:

  • Research, write, edit, proofread, and format product descriptions for each catalog, collaborating closely with the buying groups and production team to ensure accurate and compelling copy.
  • Produce value-added content, such as shopping guides, size charts, glossaries, and helpful tips, to assist customers in making informed purchasing decisions. Conduct research to identify customer needs and opportunities for additional content.
  • Assist in the development of non-merchandise specific online content, as needed.
  • Ensure that all copy is accurate, effective, and aligns with the desired brand message. Collaborate with internal staff, including web development teams and graphic artists, to ensure the appropriate look and feel of the content.
  • Archive approved merchandise copy content for reuse and historical reference.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Excellent interviewing, researching, writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Several years of copywriting experience, including marketing or consumer product writing experience. Experience in developing and implementing concepts from start to finish is essential.
  • Experience in writing for apparel, home goods, or other consumer merchandise is preferred.
  • Proficiency in word processing and desktop publishing software.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, English, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field is expected.
  • Writing samples and/or portfolio showcasing your copywriting abilities will be required.
