**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)

**Job Specialty:** Medical Surgical (Med Surg)

**Job Duration:** 13 weeks

**Shift:** 12H Days - Every Other Weekend, First to Float

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum of 2 years

**License:** Required to submit

**Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS)

**Must-Have:** Preferably surgical experience, post-operative care, early ambulation experience, and open to first-time travelers

**Job Description:**

- 30-bed unit with Nurse to Patient Ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6
- Common diagnoses/types of patients include: total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology procedures, abdominal surgery (e.g., laparoscopic appendectomy, bowel resection), bariatrics, medical overflow
- Familiarity with hemo hemovacs, JP drains, and colostomies
- No gynecological cases as they are directed to maternity
- Occasional heparin drip, PCA pump, Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
- Charge Nurse present on both shifts, with nights occasionally taking a low acuity assignment
- Nurse aides/patient care tech ratio at 1:12
- RNs handle troubleshooting nasal cannulas; respiratory treatments managed by RT staff
- Remote telemetry packs available with monitoring tech to interpret
- Scheduling managed by manager, possibility of block scheduling if unit needs are met
- Weekend requirement is every other weekend
- Floating to medical and telemetry units required, assistance available with telemetry strips
- Scrub color code: any color
- Bedside shift report is expected
- Emphasis on a close-knit and positive culture within the unit
- Radius Rule: Candidates must be more than 50 miles away and should not have any employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with associated facilities
- RTO needed upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract), additional RTO not approved
- Use of EPIC charting system
- Trauma Level 2 acute care setting
