**Job Title:** Registered Nurse

**Job Specialty:** Staff Float Pool MedSurg

**Job Duration:** 13 weeks

**Shift:** 7:00 pm - 7:00 am, 12-hour nights, 36/48 hours

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36/48 per week

**Experience:** Minimum of 18 months experience in MedSurg and/or ICU with EPIC or Cerner experience. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required.

**License:** Current RN License

**Certifications:** BLS, NIHSS

**Must-Have:**

- At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience
- Telemetry experience

**Job Description:**

- Accepts first-time travelers with required qualifications.
- Orientation includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit for new or returning travelers.
- Will be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation.
- Patient ratios and skill requirements vary by unit.
- Support includes CNAs, receptionist/HUC, phlebotomy, IV/VAT Team, hospitalist, and telemetry monitoring techs.
- RNs are required to interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings every four hours.
- Floating to any like unit/patient location as needed.
- Weekend rotation required every other or 4 weekend days per month.
- Holiday expectations include one major and one minor seasonal holiday.
- Shift schedule on a 4-week cycle, utilizing smart square for scheduling.
- Scrub color is flexible.

- Patient Types: General Surgery, Vascular Surgeries
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Skills: Wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, escalations

**5 South Neuroscience:**
- Beds: 33
- Patient Types: CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Skills: IV start, blood draws, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care

**5 North MedSurg/Oncology:**
- Beds: 39
- Patient Types: All except stroke and MI, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, MS/Oncology
- Patient Ratios: 1:6
- Skills: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, IV starts; Chemo administration if certified

**4 South Clinical Decision Unit:**
- Beds: 18
- Patient Types: General MedSurg including COPD, CHF, Diabetes, COVID, Pneumonia
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Skills: Tracheotomy care, suctioning, O2 therapy, ostomy care, central line care

**3 South Orthopedics:**
- Beds: 20
- Patient Types: Orthopedic and spine: Joint replacements, fractures
- Patient Ratios: 1:5; 1:6 if MedSurg
- Skills: PCA pumps, wound care, dressing changes, drains

**3 North MS/Ortho/Urology:**
- Beds: 23
- Patient Types: Urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurg
- Patient Ratios: 1-5:6
- Skills: Trach, wound care, wound vacs, CVL dressing changes
