**Job Specialty:** MedSurg/Tele
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12-hour night shift, 3x12 Hr
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36.00 hours/week
**Experience:** Preferred minimum of one year of nursing experience; nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty.
**License:** State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC - Required
**Certifications:**
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification - Required
**Must-Have:**
- Experience with EPIC system for patient care
**Job Description:**
- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data.
- Evaluate patients' responses and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
- Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
- Provide education to patients and families, assessing learning readiness, needs, and abilities.
- Recognize patients or designees as full partners in care, ensuring compassionate and coordinated processes based on respect for their preferences, values, and needs.
- Deliver care with respect for cultural differences and diversity.
- Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
- Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Act as a professional role model for all staff, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individual patients' and unit needs.
- Use standards of care, hospital policies and procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Foster open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making within nursing and inter-professional teams to achieve quality patient care.
- Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
- Seek out learning opportunities and continue education to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice or role performance.
- Maintain professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate your own integrity and nursing practice in relation to professional standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the organization and participate in hospital and unit-based meetings.
- Understand the value of measurement and the importance of continuous quality improvement data.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Use current healthcare research findings and other evidence to expand clinical knowledge, enhance role performance, and increase knowledge of professional issues.
- Floating may be required to locations within a specified distance; assignments may include duties outside the original job requirements.
**Note:** The role requires flexibility in floating to other locations as necessary and in accordance with policy.
