**Job Title:** Surgical Technologist

**Shift:** Day Shift, with 3-4 on-call shifts Friday-Sunday per 6-week schedule

**Guaranteed Hours:** 40 Hours per Week

**Experience:** One (1) year of OR scrubbing experience preferred; One (1) year clinical experience in an accredited hospital preferred

**License:** None specified

**Certifications:** BLS - American Heart Association required

**Must-Have:** Proficiency with sterile instrumentation

**Job Description:**
- Perform scrub duties and maintain sterile supplies and sterile technique.
- Assist in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients.
- Assemble, organize, and complete case carts according to doctor's preference lists.
- Provide appropriate instrumentation, suture, and all supplies as requested while maintaining a sterile environment.
- Assist the surgeon by passing instruments during surgical procedures.
- Count sponges, needles, blades, and instruments using proper technique and established policy.
- Assist in maintenance and care of specimens and prepare them for laboratory analysis.
- Handle specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials, and sharps in accordance with established policy and recommended standards of practice.
- Assist with the timely turnover of rooms, including cleanup, replacement, and restocking of supplies and equipment. Care for instruments and equipment.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the healthcare organization and abide by service behavior standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to float to other departments (within the scope of competency and qualifications) based on business needs.
- May be placed on-call during regularly scheduled shifts.

**Required Education:**
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduation from a formal, accredited surgical technologist program
- Training in the US military may substitute for formal surgical technologist training

**Preferred Education:**
- None specified

**Languages:** Proficient in English (Read, Write, Speak)
