**Job Description:**

- Provide patient care as directed, including medication administration (oral, intramuscular, and intravenous) and monitor patient medication compliance.
- Perform treatments and assist with sick calls.
- Participate in the nursing management of chronic care clinics.
- Respond to emergencies, providing emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Perform subjective and objective assessments of patients; collect vital signs and document findings promptly.
- Collect urine and other bodily fluid specimens.
- Prepare patients for release or transfer to other facilities by reviewing patient care, transfer summaries, or release summaries.
- Ensure discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services in a timely manner.
- Participate in work-related training and institution training exercises.
- Provide assistance to other healthcare staff; investigate and document problem areas or areas of concern.
- Review shift reports from preceding shifts.
- Assist physicians with medical procedures and assume duties of other nurses during absences.
- Counsel and provide education to patients regarding healthcare maintenance and disease prevention.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and provide training and work direction to new nurses, agency nurses, licensed practical nurses, and hospital aides.
- Serve as a resource person for other healthcare and security staff regarding healthcare matters.
- Provide orientation and training for new healthcare personnel as directed by the Nursing Supervisor.
- Serve as the lead clinical authority on site in the absence of advanced-level provider staff.
- Participate in group programming and health and wellness initiatives.
- Perform administrative duties as indicated; attend meetings and schedule multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Assume the duties of shift charge as assigned, making shift work assignments and adjustments as necessary.
- Assist with inventory and ordering of medical supplies and auxiliary staff as needed to ensure patient care needs are met.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
