**Job Title:** CT Technologist

**Job Duration:** 15 weeks

**Shift:** Day - 12x3 - 09AM - 09PM - 36 Hours (Friday - Sunday, 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM)

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours

**Experience:** Minimum of 1-2 years required

**License:** ARRT (CT) Required

**Certifications:** BLS (AHA or ARC) required

**Must-Have:** Trauma, Cardiac, and Stroke experience preferred

**Job Description:**

- Perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards.
- Operate CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency.
- Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient.
- Refer and question orders to the Radiologist before performing the exam. Contact ordering provider when there are discrepancies.
- Properly identify patients using two identifiers and assist them while offering a brief explanation of procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures with a full explanation and documentation on appropriate worksheets.
- Interview patients for a complete medical history and review electronic medical records to obtain pertinent clinical history.
- Record medical history on requisitions and correlate other test results and laboratory data with the exam being performed.
- Assume responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion of dictated results.
- Prepare and administer IV contrast according to departmental protocols and document contrast type and amount when requested.
- Evaluate the technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if needed.
- Recognize abnormal anatomy and process additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed.
- Inform appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition.
- Initiate life support measures for patients when necessary and assist in code blue procedures during medical emergencies.
- Perform CT scanning and assist Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures while practicing proper sterile techniques.
- Follow protocols for bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control during all invasive procedures.
- Obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner.
- Practice radiation safety principles for self, employees, patients, and family members.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor.
- Operate radiology computer system to enter orders and charge procedures/supplies. Document contrast administration in the medical administration records.
- Maintain assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Assist other medical personnel during exams or services in conjunction with a CT scan.
- Use physical and mental capabilities to perform job duties, including lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies, and operating various computer systems.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to radiation safety, MRI safety, and proper ergonomics practices.

**Education:** Graduate of an accredited two-year program in Radiologic Technology approved by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
