**Job Title:** Registered Nurse

**Job Specialty:** Staff Float Pool MedSurg

**Job Duration:** 13 weeks

**Shift:** 7:00 PM, 12-hour nights on a rotating schedule

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36/48

**Experience:** First-time traveler: Yes, at least 18 months experience in MedSurg with EPIC or Cerner experience. At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience required.

**License:** Registered Nurse License

**Certifications:** BLS, NIHSS

**Must-Have:**
- Wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills
- Medication administration/documentation and escalation skills
- Telemetry experience is a plus

**Job Description:**

- Work in a Level II Trauma Center and Level III NICU.
- Assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation.
- Manage a variety of patient types across different units including General Surgery, Vascular surgeries, Neuroscience, MedSurg Oncology, Orthopedics, and more.
- Patient Ratios: Generally 1:5-6, varies by unit
- Skills: IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, ostomy care, wound care, chest tube management, and more.
- Support includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, and charge nurse.
- Utilize technology such as Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, and Omnicell for medication dispensing.
- Floating to like patient location within MedSurg units.
- Scheduling involves weekend rotations and holiday expectations under policy guidelines.
- Orientation: Comprehensive 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit.
