**Job Title:** Health Information Technician

**Shift:** Day - 5x8 - 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday

**Guaranteed Hours:** Full-time, 40 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum of 9 months experience in records management; 3 months experience in medical terminology; 3 months experience in typing. Equivalent experience will be considered.

**Must-Have:**
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with electronic records is a major advantage
- Capable of filing and computer work, including electronic file management in health records

**Job Description:**

- Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and ensuring medical reports are complete and organized.
- Type health information forms, prepare charts for new admissions, complete forms, and process requests for specific reports or certificates.
- Compile and type statistical reports such as daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, or length of stay.
- File reports into health information records, record information in logs, and manage filing and retrieval of health information records.
- Provide information from health records after determining the appropriateness of requests.
- Coordinate with other departments regarding health information records procedures.

**Job Duties:**
- Knowledge of health information technology, medical record regulations, and confidentiality requirements.
- Skill in using typewriters and/or word processors and calculators.
- Ability to solve problems within familiar contexts, write standard business documents, proofread medical reports, recognize errors, and identify missing records information.
- Gather, collate, and classify information related to data, people, or things.
