General Statement of Job

The Extended Day Worker will supervise students and facilitate safe and enjoyable after school experiences for students ages four through fifth grade.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist students with transitions throughout the program to include moving throughout the hallways, playground, and cafeteria.
  • Assist with serving meals and monitoring students during dinner and snacks.
  • Provide support to students during homework time.
  • Participate and supervise students during social and game times
  • Participate and supervise students on the playground
  • Serve as a role model/mentor to students by being a lifelong learner, demonstrating appropriate academic and social behaviors, and wearing appropriate attire at all times.
  • Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for students to follow.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification and DSS Hours

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including a computer, telephone, etc. Must be able to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of five to ten pounds.

Training and Education

High School diploma is required. Previous experience working with students is not required, but is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising children in a school, camp or human service agency/environment. Experience managing medium to large groups of children strongly preferred.
