Precertification Specialist

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Precertification Specialist to work collaboratively with physicians and staff to ensure all precertification requirements are met prior to date of service. Responsibilities include answering calls regarding insurance precertification inquiries, verifying patient eligibility and pre-certification requirements through on-line verification, telephone, or fax, and documents all pre-certification information in the patients EMR. Exemplary customer service skills are expected.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Certified Professional Coder preferred.

IN LIEU OF EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar position in a medical office preferred.
  • Medical Terminology use and understanding is required.
  • Type 40 WPM.
  • Basic Computer skills experience.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team along with effective communications skills.
