The Accounting Intern performs various accounting duties according to Martin Tractor, Inc's policy and accounting theory. Accounting duties include routine and non-recurring calculations, reconciliations, verifications, and postings while ensuring accuracy and validity in the accounting processes. Duties include coordinating, preparing, and analyzing financial information and reports that provide summary information for management use in making dealership financial decisions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Records routine or recurring transactions.
* Reconciles various accounts which include identifying discrepancies and determining corrective action.
* Assists with various asset management tracking responsibilities.
* Assists the Controller with various accounting functions.
* Assists with various compliance tasks regarding tax reporting.
* Communicates with others in the organization to answer common accounting questions or resolve issues.
* Review accounts for use tax issues and calculate liability.
* Analyzes accuracy of previous entries across various departments.
* Assists other co-workers with questions regarding accounting processes.
* Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE

* Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related field or relevant experience.
* Proven skills in written and verbal communication, planning and organizing.
* High level of organization, attention to detail, and accuracy.
* 3+ years of experience in accounting.
* Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
* Knowledge of general accounting systems.
* Familiar with business office practices and procedures.
* Experience with financial/compliance audits.
