JOB SUMMARY - DINING SERVER

The Dining Server is responsible for preparing the dining room and related areas for meal service prior to the beginning of each meal. Services will refer to the daily task list to ensure completion of assigned tasks. Servers will serve guests as soon as possible and ensure that orders are filled accurately. Restock and clean the dining room following each meal in preparation for the next meal time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist with day to day functions of dining services as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work area, equipment and storage area.
  • Perform food preparation tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Responsible for following resident menus accurately on the tray line.
  • Wash dishes, cookware, flatware, ad trays using approved procedures.
  • Collect and remove trash and garbage as necessary.
  • Communicate with family members to ensure resident's desired nutritional needs are provided.
  • Comply with state and federal regulations and with HIPAA Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge and understanding of accident protocol.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with residents and families.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must obtain a thorough knowledge of cafeterias, kitchen supplies, and food supplies.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Food Handler's Permit

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB
  • Occasionally lifts objects weight up to 50 pounds and regularly lift and/or move weights up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently remains in a standing position.
  • Frequently stoops, kneels, or bends when assisting with inventory and stocking of kitchen and food supplies.
  • Frequently works in a well-lit, tempered room.
  • Frequently works with kitchen appliances that can reach high temperatures.
