Worcester, United States UMass Memorial Health Care Full time

Everyone Is a Caregiver

At UMass Memorial Health, everyone is a caregiver - regardless of their title or responsibilities. Exceptional patient care, academic excellence and leading-edge research make UMass Memorial the premier health system of Central Massachusetts, and a place where we can help you build the career you deserve. We are more than 16,000 employees, working together as one health system in a relentless pursuit of healing for our patients, community and each other. And everyone, in their own unique way, plays an important part, every day.

The Department of Pathology at UMass Memorial Health / UMass Chan Medical School is seeking an anatomic pathologist. UMass Memorial Health is the premier health care provider in central Massachusetts and is the teaching hospital of the University of Massachusetts. The department has over thirty faculty members and offers a variety of practice environments through our subspecialty academic pathology practice and our community pathology practice, with a combined volume of approximately 90,000 surgical pathology and 35,000 cytology specimens per year.

The subspecialty anatomic pathology services include all organ systems, and our faculty has rich interactions and close connections with health care teams in many other clinical departments and divisions. Preference will be given to AP or AP/CP board-certified pathologists with fellowship training or equivalent experience in head and neck (ENT) pathology, thoracic / lung pathology, cytopathology, bone and soft tissue pathology, gastrointestinal pathology or molecular pathology, but candidates with other subspecialty or general anatomic pathology interests are also encouraged to apply.

The Department of Pathology offers a friendly and collegial work environment and aims to support faculty in their desired career paths with respect to development and maintenance of their clinical areas of expertise, teaching and leadership opportunities, and academic productivity. The department has an active residency program with approximately four residents per class and offers ACGME-accredited fellowship training in GI pathology, breast/gynecological pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, and dermatopathology. There are many opportunities for teaching and research as a faculty member, with translational research opportunities throughout the medical school and hospital and with an active immunohistochemistry research laboratory and molecular diagnostic laboratory within the department.

The main campus is in Worcester, Massachusetts in an area with abundant natural beauty, a myriad of excellent school systems, superb restaurants, and innumerable cultural offerings. Worcester is centrally located in New England, within an hour of Boston and Providence, and a short drive from the coastal beauty of Cape Cod and the scenic Berkshire Mountains.
