GENERAL SUMMARY: Graduate pharmacist works under the personal charge of a pharmacist licensed in the state of Michigan and the general supervision of licensed staff who have responsibility for the day to day comprehensive, patient oriented pharmacy services provided in each area of the department. The graduate pharmacist assists in identifying problems which exist in assigned area of practice and cooperates in the resolution of these problems. The graduate pharmacist participates in training pharmacy interns and externs in each of the pharmacy service areas.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Must hold a licensable pharmacy degree from a college of pharmacy accredited by the ACPE. Pharmacy internship and/or residency in hospital pharmacy preferred. Must actively be pursuing Pharmacist licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Michigan. Must obtain Pharmacist licensure in the State of Michigan within 7 months of date of hire. Failure to obtain licensure within the designated time-frame will result in termination of the Graduate Pharmacist position. Must demonstrate acumen in verbal and written communication skills which enable effective contribution in the dissemination of drug information to all levels of health care personnel in the institution. Must possess a thorough understanding of the pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy of disease states and have the application skills needed to permit proper integration of these in monitoring drug therapy. Must have basic abilities for participating in the various teaching programs including instruction and supervision of undergraduate pharmacy students, interns, and pharmacy technician trainees. Must have the skills necessary for providing informal and formal instruction of students and other health care providers on drug therapy and inpatient operational activities. Must demonstrate the ability to work with others in developing improved services for patients.
