* 15. Loads Surgical Specimens In The Processors And Sets/Checks Time Setting.
* 16. Short Accessions Surgical Specimens For Frozen Sections And Other Urgent Procedures.
* 17. 4. Maintains Positive Specimen Identification Throughout Specimen Processing.
* 18. 5. Cuts Embedded Surgical Specimens Using Rotary Microtome.
* 19. 6. Deparaffinizes Cut Sections And Performs H&E Staining.
* 20. 7. Performs Various Special Stains.
* 21. 8. Examines Specimens To Determine That They Meet Established Standards.
* 22. 9. Coordinates Slides And Pathology Reports, And Takes To Pathologist For Diagnosis.
* 23. 10. Prepares And Maintains Reagents, Solutions And Stains, According To Standard Formulae.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Baccalaureate Degree From A Regionally Accredited College/University With A Combination Of 30 Semester Hours (45 Quarter Hours) Of Biology And Chemistry (Must Include Credit Hours In Both), And Successful Completion Of A Naacls Accredited Histotechnician Or Histotechnology Program Within The Last Five Years. Completion Of Naacls Accredited Program Waived With Current Htl(Ascp) Certification.
EXPERIENCE
At Least Three Years Of Experience In Histological Techniques Preferred.
LICENSURE
American Society Of Clinical Pathologists (Htl-Ascp) Preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Clear Written And Verbal Communication Skills Required.
