Job Description:

Overall responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Patient Care 60%
  • Responsible for educating and preparing patients for examinations.
  • Provide patient care that is essential to the performance of a variety of procedures.
  • Take thorough patient medical history prior to examination.
  • Complete screenings for medical devices and injuries where metal objects were involved.
  • Position patient to obtain proper imaging.
  • Addresses patients' concerns and ensures patients are comfortable and calm during exam.
  • Determine appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
  • Interpret imaging orders provided by the physician.
  • Administer IV contrast agents.
  • Examine images to ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Operates equipment, accessories and is knowledgeable in workflows, procedures and processes.
  • Performing regular inspections of the MRI equipment and machines, and scheduling maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Ensuring that the MRI room is kept clean, tidy, and safe always.
  • Maintain proper documentation within RIS system(s)
  • Obtains appropriate lab work and ensures correct documentation.
  • Maintain desk and/or clinic supplies.
  • Perform equipment quality check and adhere to quality assurance guidelines.
  • Respond to physician and radiologist questions and needs regarding patients.

Scheduling 20%
  • Meet patient needs through a variety of methods including but not limited to
    a. Answer incoming phone calls and make outbound phone calls
    b. Gathering information to route appropriately.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain and update appointment calendars.
  • Coordinate Lab and Prep instructions for scheduled appointments.
  • Update and verify primary care and referring providers.
  • Evaluate referrals and link to appropriate upcoming appointments.
  • Verify and update patient demographics.

Medical Records 10%
  • File and maintain records.
  • Transmit information or documents to customers, using computer, mail, or facsimile machine.
  • Collect, sort, distribute, or prepare mail, messages, or courier deliveries.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Forward Attorney Medical Records Requests to Executive Assistant/Compliance.

Billing 10%
  • Serve as resource person and provide information to patient scheduling staff and patients regarding insurance.
  • Verify visit account and insurance information and transfer to billing if updates are needed.
  • Collect copays, pre-payments, and outstanding balances.
  • Manage visit prior authorization and referral requirements.

Education/Experience

  • An associate degree or equivalent in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience
  • ARRT certified in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • BLS certification
