JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant will assist in the delivery of care in the ambulatory setting under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse or physician.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Conduct quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, CT scanner, treatment planning systems, and imaging devices.
* Provide technical support for treatment planning, including contouring, dose calculations, and plan optimization using advanced treatment planning systems. Perform treatment planning on an as-needed basis for both external beam and HDR brachytherapy treatments.
* Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists on development and implementation of patient treatment plans, including simulation coverage as needed.
* Perform routine checks of patient treatment parameters, monitor patient dose delivery, and ensure compliance with treatment prescriptions.
* Provide training and education to staff members on radiation safety, treatment techniques, and new technology implementations.
* Maintain accurate documentation of all quality assurance activities and equipment calibration.
* Adhere to all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards applicable to radiation oncology.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

* Master's degree in medical physics Required, PhD preferred. ABR or ABMP certification required.
* Experience working in clinical radiation oncology environment preferred.
* Proficiency with treatment planning software
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to maintaining patient safety and quality care standards.
* Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
