Job Goal:
-To deliver high-quality social-emotional learning, a health and safety curriculum, and differentiated therapy in small group and one-on-one settings.
-To develop social-emotional learning goals for each identified student in the program.
Performance Responsibilities:
-Provide individual and group counseling services to students in the Bridge program (K-2 Social Emotional Program) to address social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.
- Serve as a member of the Bridge Team and assist in coordinating programming, including identifying students in need of services, and ensuring appropriate placement.
- Collaborate with external mental health professionals, agencies, and community resources to provide comprehensive support services to students and families.
- Monitor the effectiveness of Bridge interventions and programs through data collection, assessment, and feedback from stakeholders.
- Provide training, and support to staff working within the Bridge program.
- Ensure that therapeutic interventions align with the school's overall goals and objectives for supporting students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
- Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in therapeutic interventions and integrate them into the schools' program as appropriate.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students with social/emotional needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create and implement strategies for supporting students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss students' progress and develop comprehensive intervention plans.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to students experiencing emotional or behavioral crisis.
- Offer training and support to school staff on topics related to social-emotional learning, behavior management, and mental health awareness.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions.
- Develop individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students with significant behavioral challenges in collaboration with teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Utilize data collection methods to monitor students' progress towards behavioral and/or social/emotional goals and make adjustments to intervention plans as needed.
- Analyze data to identify patterns and trends and make recommendations for adjustments to support student success.
- Provide ongoing consultation and support to teachers and staff regarding behavior management strategies and techniques.
- Perform any and all such duties as may fall within the scope of the position and as may be required by the Director of Special Education or building principal.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Must possess the ability to:
-Build positive relationships with students in support of their academic and social development.
-Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
-Guide the learning process toward the achievement of IEP goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
Qualifications:
-Master's Degree preferred
-Massachusetts Licensure as Mental Health Clinician or Adjustment Counselor or School Psychologist
-Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.)
-Experience in conducting elementary groups, play therapy, and other forms of psychotherapy
