Summary:

The Shelter Support Worker will provide ongoing support for all onsite emergency shelter activities including screening, registration, meal services as well as assist with shelter residents with basic needs. Shelter support workers will work in conjunction with the shelter management team to monitor and provide appropriate services to support emergency shelter population.


Location: Tallahassee, FL


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for processing resources, donations etc. evacuees in emergency shelter.
  • Is knowledgeable about Program policies and helps develop standard operating procedures.
  • Exercise discretion and good judgment with respect to day-to-day management
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work flexible hours to support 24/7/365 shelter operations.
  • Ability to assess problems and develop solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and teamwork.
  • Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and teamwork ability

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred with at least one (1) year of customer service in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with emergency shelter populations is preferred.
