We are currently looking for a Full Time HIM Inpatient Coder to join our HIM Inpatient Services Team team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center working .

Summary:

The Inpatient Coder assigns ICD-10-CM diagnostic and ICD-10-PCS and/or CPT-4 procedural codes to inpatient, observation and day surgery accounts.

Responsibilities:
* Accurately codes and sequences medical record information on all accounts with an error rate not to exceed 5%
* Accurately abstracts medical record information on all accounts with an error rate not to exceed 5%
* Codes to achieve maximum reimbursement while maintaining compliance with coding guidelines, rules, and regulations
* Identifies unbilled accounts through regular review of the unbilled report
* Assists the medical staff with any questions or issues regarding coding or DRG assignment and approaches the medical staff for information as necessary
* Assists the medical staff and serves as a resource to answer questions regarding coding and/or superbill processes with courtesy and tact
* Verifies transactions codes from the electronic superbill for inpatient visits and observation visits and enter any missing transaction codes
* Ensures that superbills are completed before abstracting or data entry occurs for day surgery visits
* Maintains accurate account of daily activities and turns in calendar to the Supervisor IP Coding monthly
* Escalates problematic issues to the next level of management for guidance in resolution of issues
* Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types
