ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Maintains a high quality of patient care; positions and handles patients with a high degree of professional ethics, care, tact, courtesy, patience, and safety.
* Greets and introduces self to patient and describes nature and time requirements of requested exams (AIDET).
* Keeps room and work area neat and orderly. Maintains and rotates supplies/inventory. Keeps work area stocked.
* Organizes, plans, and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for designated area/room. Able to teach patient/family about exam requirements, pre and post instructions.
* Identifies problems and communicates to the Imaging Services Director or Imaging Clinical Coordinator; offers solutions as appropriate.
* Furnishes radiologist with the patient's history on report form. Completes all paperwork where applicable. Completes patient questionnaire before beginning any MRI exam.
* Maintains a good working relationship with the radiologist -- communicates with the radiologist regarding examinations as necessary.
* Performs specific duties requested by the Imaging Services Director.
* Attends regularly scheduled departmental meetings, staff in-service education, and training programs.
* Promotes good interpersonal relationships within the department and hospital.
* Assumes responsibility for proper and efficient operation of all the MRI equipment used; reports malfunctions and the need for adjustments or repairs to the Imaging Services Director.
* Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient's body habitus.
* Assists in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs and carts onto the table in MRI.
* Performs all MRI exams according to departmental protocols.
* Administers prescribed contrast agents as needed.
* Keeps repeat exams to a minimum.
* Participates in continued quality improvement program.
* Familiar with PACS.

Physical Demands

* Requires full range of body motion including: handling and lifting of patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
* Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
* Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds.
* Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
* Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
* Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
