Milwaukee, United States Medical College Of Wisconsin Full time

Position Description:

The Division of Neuropsychology in the Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin anticipates hiring two full-time clinical neuropsychology faculty to work in the section of Pediatric Neuropsychology. Minimum requirements include a doctoral degree in psychology with child neuropsychological emphasis, and completion of a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology. Qualified applicants should be license-eligible in the State of Wisconsin and board certified or eligible for ABPP/ABCN certification. Applicants at any level will be considered, and participation in clinical, research and teaching is expected. Our neuropsychologists are generalists who also have individual areas of expertise that inform clinical research. Desirable candidates possess unique talents and skills that mesh with existing operations. The Division seeks a strong team player who has clinical experience working with children who have medical, neurological and genetic disorders. The ideal faculty has a personal commitment to equitable provision of care to historically marginalized populations. Qualified bilingual candidates are highly desired. The position will be tailored to the interests and expertise of the faculty member.

Clinical responsibilities include provision of neuropsychological services to children with a variety of medical, neurological and developmental disorders in inpatient, multidisciplinary and outpatient settings. Clinical activities are conducted in the Children's Wisconsin (CW) hospital and clinics and within the CW Neuroscience Program. The ability to work and think quickly, efficiently and flexibly and to conduct both comprehensive and brief consultative evaluations is essential. Our section collaborates with many other pediatric disciplines including neurology, neurosurgery, neonatology, rehabilitation, genetics, neuroradiology, oncology, cardiology, pediatrics, psychology and psychiatry. We have major programmatic commitments to the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, NICU follow-up program, Herma Heart Center, Brain Tumor program, the Center for Child Development, Comprehensive Sports Concussion clinic, and Nelson Rare and Undiagnosed Disease program.

An academic office is provided in the Hub for Collaborative Medicine. Teaching, supervision, and mentoring responsibilities include lectures and supervision of four pediatric postdoctoral fellows in clinical neuropsychology (didactics also include adult neuropsychology fellows) and practicum students from five regional graduate programs. Successful candidates will have strong interests in collaborative clinical research in specific areas of expertise. Advanced methods for data extraction from the medical record allow for timely research. The Department provides mentoring, research administrative support, and protected time for new faculty to establish their research program. The Department supports a major fMRI research laboratory devoted to understanding normal and abnormal language functions, a MEG research center, collaborative IOM program for brain tumors, and several clinical research databases.
