Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated DLA Account Executive to drive business development initiatives for our IT company, focusing on opportunities within the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). This role involves identifying and capturing new business opportunities, fostering relationships, and contributing to the strategic growth of the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in federal business development, particularly in the government IT sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Opportunity Identification and Pipeline Management:
- Identify, qualify, and track targeted opportunities in alignment with the company's business growth strategy.
- Maintain and update a pipeline of qualified opportunities, presenting progress and insights during regular pipeline meetings.
- Client and Partner Engagement:
- Develop and execute call plans to present corporate capabilities and gather market intelligence.
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective clients, teaming partners, vendors, and consultants.
- Proposal Development Support:
- Collaborate with Proposal Writers/Managers during proposal development, contributing to writing, editing, research, and review processes.
- Assist in establishing win themes and ensuring alignment with client needs and corporate goals.
- Market and Industry Awareness:
- Stay informed about industry trends, economic shifts, and technological advancements to identify and act on new business opportunities.
- Apply market insights to refine business development strategies and decision-making.
- Strategic Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams to foster a culture of collaboration and shared success.
- Balance individual productivity with team-oriented approaches to achieve business goals.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in business development or sales, with expertise in pre-proposal processes, strategy development, and lead qualification.
- Proven experience in federal procurement, proposal support, and IT solutions for government clients.
- Knowledge of DLA operations and the broader government IT industry.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Leadership, professionalism, and strong business ethics.
- Excellent communication skills, including listening, speaking, writing, and presenting.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to balance team collaboration with individual contributions.
- Results-oriented mindset with consistent follow-through and execution.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with proposal management tools and CRM platforms.
- Understanding of emerging technologies relevant to federal IT initiatives.
